yellow shawl

I finally finished my yellow shawl that I started last year! It's so warm and soft. I don't remember what the yarn is but I got it at Hobby Lobby on clearance so they probably don't carry it any more. I knitted it on a loom. I like loom knitting I think it's fun and easy.

Yo-Yo ornaments

I like putting a little something in the Christmas cards that I sent out every year. This year I didn't get anything made. But I didn't want to send them with something. So as I was making yo-yos one night I thought that would make a cute little ornament. So I just glued a ribbon on the back of them to make a hanger and they were done. Everyone seems to be enjoying them!

Two Tickets to the Christmas Ball by Donita K. Paul

Cora and Simon work together everyday but not until meeting in a bookshop do they begin to really see each other.  When they find tickets to a magical Christmas ball in their books will love bring them together?

I really enjoyed Two Tickets to the Christmas Ball by Donita K. Paul. I didn't find it overly preachy. My real problem with it was the romance. Cora and Simon's romance seems to revolve more around his sister than each other. But she's very likable so I overlooked it. It's a fun fast read.

Favorite quote: "Maybe we can invent the monkey trot."

I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review.

It's Your Room: a Decorating Guide for Real Kids by Janice Weaver & Frieda Wishinsky

It's Your Room: a Decorating Guide for Real Kids offers a nice overview of decorating your bedroom. Written and illustrated for kids it seems seems more aimed at teens who have a lot of freedom to do what they want.

Button Wreaths

In the holiday issue of All You magazine. They have directions for making button wreaths. They were cute. So I made three of them for my own Christmas tree. I put the bow on the large one because I didn't think it looked like a wreath. And the bow made it just right.

Stinker Update

Stinker's getting better. She's not limping this morning and when she was sitting she had her paw on the floor!  She took the medicine yesterday like a pro. I think she's surprised that there is so little of it.

Poor Stinker

My cat is having the worst month.  She's been limping around. So I took her the vet yesterday. Stinker attacked the bet when she touched her paw!!! She made the vet bleed!!!! Luckily the vet was very understanding. Good news is that it's not broken. She has a little dry spot on one of her pads. But the vet thinks that she either has a sprain or maybe even stepped on something. We came home with more medicine for Stinker to take. I hope it cures her and that nothing else happens to her!

Black Friday

I survived my first black Friday shopping trip!!!

I showered before I went to bed last night so I wouldn't have to go out in the cold wet. I said "We ain't going home without a TV!" My Mom woke me at 2:30 a.m. and we were off to Wal-mart! The movies and games were the first thing we saw when we walked in the store. I wanted the Bourne DVDs but they were already gone I did get the Lord of the Ring DVDs and a couple of others. We walked around looking at other stuff and found out we had to get an arm band for the TV so we got that. My Mom wanted one of the eMachines and tried to get an armband for that but they had already given them all away:( So we went back and got in the TV line and we got the Emerson TV for $198:) Went and stood in line and got checkout with no problems.

Got to the car PROBLEM! The locks had frozen. Managed to get ourselves the TV and DVDs in. They wouldn't price match Target because it's too far away so I made the comment that we should go the Wal-mart in the next town. Mom was if you want to. We can. We should have started at that Wal-mart!

They were out of the eMachine but did have a few of the $398 laptops so she got one of those (I think she'll like it better! She's drooling over it right now!) I got the Wii Fit Plus(yes they price matched and it was the last one), a camera, a few more movies (they were out Bourne too), a pair of slippers (that I'm wearing right now and they are sooo warm) some fleece pants, and some towels!

Come home and unloaded everything and realised that I forgot the wall mount for the TV. They didn't have any at the second Wal-mart so went back to the first one. It was about 10:30 there were more people there or least it seemed like it because they were RUDE! They were out of the mounts:(

I enjoyed my black Friday shopping trip. Well except for the last trip to the first Wal-mart. I'll gladly go again if they have something I want! But I'm not starting at the same Wal-mart store.

Sick Stinker

Stinker's sick:( She's never been sick or acted like this so I was so scared. Sunday all she did was lay around and sleep and that is so not her. She only ate a very few pieces of cat food. And she was sneezing a lot. Monday morning she ate more than she had all day Sunday. But she wasn't getting out of going to the vet. Getting into the car to go she grabbed hold the car door but that was the only fight she had in her. It's usually harder to get her out of the car when we get there.

She has a respiratory infection and a fever. She got two shots and some take home medicine that I have to give her.

As soon as we got home she demanded treats and she ate them. Then about an hour later she ate some more.

Yesterday: She was eating better but not much and she was walking around some. I gave Stinker her first dose of medicine yesterday. She ate almost all of it. I don't think she minded the medicine so much (it's flavored) but she really didn't like it being forced into her mouth. I didn't like forcing it in either!

Making the bed

Washed the sheets today and had a little trouble. Stinker was already on the bed!

What did you wake me up for?

Go away so I can go back to sleep!

Cat shaped lump.

Almost out!

I pulled the covers back and she jumped out! She then demanded treats for putting up with having her picture taken! And then said she deserved seconds for going on the blog.
Spoiled Stinker!

Wolf Signs Giveaway!

Win a copy of Wolf Signs by Vivian Arend!

Wolf Signs
Robyn Maxwell doesn’t care that her brother has to cancel out on their backcountry ski trip. She can do it alone. The fact she’s deaf doesn’t make her survival skills any weaker. The chance to get away from it all and relax in the Yukon wilderness is just what she’s been craving.

Meeting wilderness guide Keil at the cabin starts cravings of another kind. Keil’s one hot hunk of ripped, tasty male. Now she has to deal with raging hormones as well as strange questions about wolves and mates and challenges to the death.

Keil was trying for a nice reflective retreat before challenging for the Alpha position of his Alaskan pack. He wasn’t planning on meeting the woman destined to be his mate, or finding out she’s not aware she has the genes of a wolf.

Between dealing with his accident-prone younger brother, a deaf mate with an attitude and an impending duel to the death, his week—and his bed—is suddenly full.
Far from the relaxing getaway any of them had in mind...

Leave a comment for a chance to win a digital copy of Wolf Signs! Winner will be picked at noon central time October 21, 2010. Please have your email in your profile or leave it in your post. One entry per person.

A Safe Harbor Giveaway Winner

The winner is purango! Congratulations!! I've already emailed you!

Sex in the Dark

There was this couple that had been married for 20 years.

Every time they made love the husband always insisted on shutting off the light.

Well, after 20 years the wife felt this was ridiculous.

She figured she would break him out of this crazy habit

So one night, while they were in the middle of a wild, screaming,
romantic session, she turned on the lights.

She looked down.... and saw her husband was holding a battery-operated pleasure device... a vibrator!

Soft, wonderful and larger than the real one.

She went completely ballistic.

'You impotent bastard,' She screamed at him, 'How could you be lying
to me all of these years?

You better explain yourself!'

The husband looks her straight in the eyes and says calmly:

'I'll explain the toy, you explain the kids.

During the bite of the Great Depression, sole female dominant Joan Fuller struggles against the rise of cruelty among her alpha counterparts. The men tolerate her interference--until she breaks from the pack and allies with a witch and a vampire. Now the Boston alpha intends to bring them all forcibly back into the fold--and teach her a lesson she may not survive.

Seamus Whelan and his werewolf bootleggers intend to retire from smuggling and savor their fortune, but first they must do a favor for an old friend: escort some female wolves to safety. An easy job, if their leader wasn't a prim ex-debutante with enough power to challenge Seamus himself. Chance makes them allies; powerful need makes them lovers.

Together, they have the opportunity to build a sanctuary for their kind, but first they must free themselves from Joan's past, and the powerful man who would see her destroyed.

Hillbilly Hunter

A hillbilly went hunting one day in Oklahoma and bagged three ducks. He put them in the bed of his pickup truck and was about to drive home when he was confronted by an ornery game warden who didn't like hillbillies. The game warden ordered the hillbilly to show his hunting license, and the hillbilly pulled out a valid Oklahoma hunting license.

The game warden looked at the license, then reached over and picked up one of the ducks, sniffed its but t, and said "This duck ain't from Oklahoma. This is a Kansas duck. You got a Kansas huntin' license, boy?"

The hillbilly reached into his wallet and produced a Kansas hunting license.

The game warden looked at it, then reached over and grabbed the second duck, sniffed its but t, and said "This ain't no Kansas duck. This duck's from Arkansas. You got a Arkansas license?"

The hillbilly reached into his wallet and produced an Arkansas hunting license.

The warden then reached over and picked up the third duck, sniffed its but t, and said This ain't no Arkansas duck. This here duck's from South Carolina. You got a South Carolina huntin' license?"

Again the hillbilly reached into his wallet and brought out a South Carolina hunting license.

The game warden was extremely frustrated at this point, and he yelled at the hillbilly "Just where the hell are you from?"

The hillbilly turned around, bent over, dropped his pants, and said "You tell me, expert."

Be Very Quiet

A father and son went hunting together for the first time.

The father said: "Stay here and be very QUIET. I'll be across the field."

A few minutes later the father heard a scream and ran Back to his son. "What's wrong?" the father asked. "I told you to be quiet."

The boy, bless his heart, answered; "Look, I was quiet when the snake slithered across my feet. I was quiet when the bear breathed down my neck. I didn't move a muscle when the skunk climbed over my shoulder. I closed my eyes and held my breath when the wasp stung me. I didn't cough when I swallowed the gnat. I didn't cuss or scratch when the poison oak started itching.

But when the two squirrels crawled up my pant legs and said, Should we eat them here or take them with us?'

"Well, I guess I just panicked..............."

Priceless

Jack wakes up at home with a huge hangover he can't believe. He forces himself to open his eyes, and the first thing he sees is a couple of aspirins next to a glass of water on the side table. And, next to them, a single red rose!

Jack sits down and sees his clothing in front of him, all clean and pressed. He looks around the room and sees that it is in perfect order, spotlessly clean.

So is the rest of the house. He takes the aspirins and then cringes when he sees a huge black eye staring back at him in the bathroom mirror, and notices a note on the table: "Honey, breakfast is on the stove, I left early to go shopping -- Love you!"

He stumbles to the kitchen and sure enough, there is hot breakfast and the morning newspaper. His son is also at the table, eating. Jack asks, "Son... what happened last night?"

"Well, you came home after 3 A.M., drunk and out of your mind. You broke some furniture, puked in the hallway, and got that black eye when you ran into the door."

"So, why is everything in such perfect order, so clean, I have a rose, and breakfast is on the table waiting for me?"

His son replies, "Oh THAT!... Mom dragged you to the bedroom, and when she tried to take your pants off, you screamed, "Leave me alone, lady, I'm married!"

Broken furniture - $85.26

Hot Breakfast - $4.20

Red Rose bud -$3.00

Two Aspirins -$.38

Saying the right thing, at the right time.........Priceless.

Pineapple Flop Cake

I tried a new recipe. My family said it was good which doesn't happen around here very often. So I had to share.

Pineapple Flop Cake

1 1/2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 No. 2 can crushed pineapple (with juice)
Mix all ingredients together (do not use mixer), blending well. Pour into greased and floured 13x9 inch pan and bake at 325 degrees for 35 minutes.  While still warm, pour icing over cake.

Icing
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 small can evaporated milk
1 cup coconut (optional)
1 stick margarine
Mix all ingredients together and boil 10 minutes. Pour over cake.

Note: I didn't have a small can of evaporated milk. So I just guessed that it was half the size of the can I had. So I measured out 6 ounces. And it turned out really well.
